01Where you are right now
Not looking right now? Follow a few companies and we will tell you when something opens.
Referrals live right now at — tap any company
02The silence
Tailored the CV. Matched the keywords. Applied on the right day.
Then nothing. Not a no. Just nothing.
And the best roles never got posted at all.
None of them were read by a person.
…and 204 more you stopped opening the confirmation emails for.
03The two piles
Portal applications join one enormous stack, sampled when a recruiter has time.
Referrals go to a short stack on the hiring manager's desk, with a name attached.
Same CV. One person moved it across.
1,417 through the portal
1 on the hiring manager's desk
Not a favour. A change of queue.
04The part nobody tells you
A portal tells you nothing until it tells you no.
A person tells you how many rounds there are, and what they will actually ask.
This is the part a job portal can never do.
Tue · 11:04
You asked for a referral
Tue · 11:20
quiet-fox-9b12 opened your request
Reviewing. You see the moment it stops sitting unread.
Wed · 09:12
Referred internally
“Submitted under my name. They usually look within 2 days.”
Thu · 16:40
A message you could never have got from a portal
“3 rounds. First is system design. The manager always asks about a project you owned end to end.”
05The quiet cost
Nobody tells you the year is gone. You notice when the person who joined with you is now reviewing your work.
A year of this looks like
26 weeks
spent refreshing an inbox
400
applications, unread
3
hiring cycles you were not in the room for
Illustrative, not measured — a picture of a year spent applying into portals, not a statistic about you or about Referror.
One person inside can do what four hundred applications did not.
06How you actually do it
Someone with a verified work email posts an opening at their company, and how many people they will refer.
A normal application. Talking to the referrer is optional.
Your application lands faster than any job board can manage, and a real person is on the other end of it.
07What might stop you
“My employer will see that I am looking.”
On the feed you are a random handle — brave-yak-4e51 — and so is everyone else. Your name, your email and your current company are never published.
What each person sees
A handle. Nothing else.
Only the answers you chose to send, after you send them.
Nothing. There is no public profile to find.
“Is this just another site selling guaranteed referrals?”
No, and the difference is in what we refuse to sell. We never pay referrers, and we never promise an outcome.
“What if I ask and nobody ever replies?”
Then you will at least know. Every referrer carries their own record, shown before you ask — and a decline comes back with a reason attached, not silence.
You see this before you ask.
| Parameter | Cold applying | LinkedIn DMs | Cold emails | Referror |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who starts it | You, into a queue | You, into a stranger's inbox | You, into a spam filter | The employee, by posting |
| What you hear back | Silence, then a 3am rejection | Usually nothing | Usually nothing | Every status change, plus what to prepare |
| Effort | Hundreds of applications, each one re-typed | A new message for every stranger | Hunt the address, then write it | One application, against an offer already open |
| Time | Weeks per role, usually to nothing | Days, if they reply at all | Days, if it lands at all | You see the moment it is opened |
| Confidence | You never learn if a human opened it | A read receipt, at best | You never learn if it arrived | You know a person has it, and what happens next |
Because most applications are filtered before a person sees them. Referred applications are routed to the hiring manager instead of the general pool, which is why one referral often does more than a hundred applications.
Referred candidates get read by a human far more often. It is not a guarantee of an interview. It is a guarantee that your CV is opened, and that someone tells you what happened to it.
That is the entire reason Referror exists. Employees post the roles they are willing to refer for, with the number of people they will refer. You are answering an open offer, not cold-messaging a stranger who owes you nothing.
Yes. Browsing, asking and getting referred are all free, and there is no paid tier today. If that ever changes we will say so here before it does.
No, and anyone who does is either paying referrers or lying in their terms. Referrers are real employees putting their own name behind a stranger, so they can pass. We offer access, never outcomes.
No file uploads anywhere on Referror. You paste a link, and we check it is publicly openable before a referrer sees it.

The other side
Post a role you can refer for, set how many people you will put forward, and let your company's referral bonus do the rest. It takes about a minute.
